After having served in the Indian Air Force for several decades, this supersonic fighter aircraft is now adorning the school campus where it stands tall with pride and honour as 'The Guardian Of VAFS'.
TS 517 is the first MiG-27 on static display in the state of Uttar Pradesh. This iconic piece of history serves as a big inspiration and helps encourage patriotism & national integration among everyone. The mighty MiG-27 was the last 'Swing-Wing' fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force.
As you would enter the school, this ’Kargil War Veteran’ would greet you.

THE STORY OF 'TS 517'
MiG-27 TS 517 is one of the first MiG-27s which were inducted into the Indian Air Force in 1984. It originally had a rare 'Camouflage paint scheme' that existed before the 'Tipnis grey' order came into effect in the IAF. This Kargil War veteran was part of the elite No.222 'Tigersharks' squadron which became the first squadron in India to be equipped with the MiG-27 and air-launched BrahMos cruise missile.The highly decorated squadron has proved its mettle in various operations including the Kargil War.
